Tigard Football has been a long-time supporter of breast
cancer awareness.
In recent years our efforts have increased dramatically. In
August 2009, the wife of a Tigard assistant football coach was diagnosed with
breast cancer. The team responded with a massive showing at the Race for the
Cure that year followed by their annual Pink Game in October.
The Tigard
student body has joined the fight as well, raising money through T-shirt sales,
and the results have been amazing! Now our Pink Game is one of the biggest
events of the fall.
Last year, Nike donated one-of-a-kind jerseys and cleats to
the Tigers. The 2011 game was a sight like none other as the Tigers showed
their support for the fight against breast cancer on the field, and students, parents
and community members did the same from the stands.
Proceeds from the 2011
game, totaling over $1,000, were donated to breast cancer research.
